It's the first time i have blogged in almost 7 months! I miss blogging so much and it disappeared from my life for quite some time. I will be leaving to university at the end of august it is my first year! I cannot believe time passed this quickly, my blog is over a year old. I hope to be updating again, now. i can post via android so it might be a lot easier. See you all soon!

Surprise Gift and Current Updates

So I have been MIA once again for a month. Once you get out of the blogging mood, it really doesn't want to make you budge. My personal life has been very busy including new relationship, schoolwork, and stress from everything. Maybe I shouldn't be making excuses? I need to use blogging as an outlet to relieve stress!! :)

Anyway I will be posting today a very belated one on a Secret Santa gift I received from Fuzkittie way back in the end of December.

Her gift included a very cute Christmas/New Year's card, two perfume samples, a L'Occitane lipgloss and cream set, and a JuJu Cosmetics primer.

The JuJu hyaluronic primer that I haven't even tried yet :( Can't put lots of base makeup because it has been causing me blemishes...

The hand cream is in Sweet Cherry and the lipgloss is also a Cherry Blossom flavor. Both are really moisturizing and I love them! I loved the hand cream so much that I was tempted to buy the set from Sephora...

So I ended up hauling a little! I think this was the time when that Beauty Insiders $15, $25 off coupon was going around. I think mine was only $15 off a $35 purchase. I also bought the Rosebud Salve trio which is really cute!

I don't know if this was a good purchase because it was rather impulsive but I still like the product! It gives a very juicy look to the lips and plumps them up.

So this President's holiday I had a week off from school and it happened to be my grandmother's one year death anniversary. It is a very important date in Japanese Culture and it is called Isshuki (一周忌). I know this might be a morbid picture but my grandmother's family grave is very pretty! It is a quiet and private area with large space. I didn't travel to Japan only to visit a grave, of course I took advantage of the chance to go shop around and meet up with various members of family. I tried to plan to meet with some bloggers like Kay and Nic Nic but it didn't work out because Kay was busy and I didn't have enough time to meet Nic :( However I will try to meet them again next time!

I hope I will not give up blogging. I still read people's blogs daily but I am very lazy to update my own. Blogging is really fun for me and I've met a lot of genuine people. Take care, everyone!

Blair's Love Pack + Finally, Update!

Wow I have been MIA for a month and a couple weeks now! Things have gotten busy for me with school and work, also I've become a little lazy as well... Must be a diligent blogger!

This post is going to about a little parcel I got from BLAIR before the holidays and what I did over the holiday vacation.

Here's a little sneak peek at what Blair got for me :)

Blair and I started to chat and email each other frequently in December and we decided to do a small love pack exchange :) Blair and I have similar tastes and interests so we each requested some things from each other. I requested specifically from her the Rimmel Gloss Maxx Lipsticks and the Maybelline Angelfit foundation. I've yet to try them for a prolonged period so I will do so soon and review them.

A mask, L'occitane lipgloss, cuticle oil pen, eye spongies, Tony Moly lipbalm and mascara (not to mention her cute little note! Look at that neat handwriting)

So over the holiday break, I took a family vacation to Winter Park, Colorado for some skiing. This is an annual vacation that my family has taken for over ten years (and to the same place). Here we are at one of the slopes... I am with my mom.

The first two days were freezing so I had to use handwarmers. I had these Hello Kitty handwarmers from my friend in Japan. Aren't they cute? They last for about 8 hours too.

On a random note, some guy got JERK written on his car because he parked weirdly... He parked in the middle of nowhere and other people couldn't get out. It was so funny that I just had to take a picture.

It was nice to update again, I've become so lazy to even write blog posts but I'll try to write at least once or twice a week. It is my new year's resolution! I'm also trying to organize another blog sale for myself so maybe next week I will let all of you know when that happens. Thanks for the support that I've gotten from my longtime (and new) readers and followers, thank you so much for staying with me even though I've neglected you all for a month!

Brushlove Hairbrushes Review

Today I'll be reviewing some products I've received from the generous PR reps at Brushlove.com! As a disclaimer, I do not get paid to do these reviews and this review is 100% my honest opinion. Thanks!

I received a total of four brushes: two round barrel brushes, a plastic bristle brush, and a wooden boar hair/nylon bristle brush. (Please click on the retailer picture of the brush to see the link)

Brushlab Orange Ceramic Thermal Jumbo Hair Brush

I used this brush to blowdry my hair while it was partly damp and partly dry. The brush did a very good job of getting a hold of my hair and did not tangle any hair at all. I've tried boar bristle round brushes in the past and all of them did not adequately grip my hair without tangle. The bristles do not scratch my scalp and are for the most part gentle. It's a great brush for achieving volume and straighter locks. The grip is also very comfortable due to the tiny nubs! This brush gives me a little static hair but it's nothing a little patting down can't fix.

Brushlab Ceramic Flow Thermal Round Hair Brush

This brush is great for shorter hair as the barrel is smaller. I think these bristles are even softer than the orange brush! The bristles are also treated with tourmaline to break up moisture molecules and target odor-causing bacteria. I also used this for blow drying on damp/half dried hair. The grip doesn't have any nubs on it, but it is still easy to use. The bristles also didn't pull at my hair too much, so I didn't have massive hair fall-out for this brush. Causes me a little bit of static, but not a big deal.

Brushlab Pretty Pink Dual Mirror Brush Combo Hair Brush

This brush is more like the ones I use for everyday, I normally use a nylon bristle paddle brush. The best feature in my opinion for this brush is the mirror in the back. The mirror is very nice quality--sometimes cheap mirrors can appear somewhat cloudy, not clear. Although this is described as a travel brush, I feel like the size is still a little big for travel, but I think I will bring this along for my next trip! The bristles on this brush are very gentle as well.

Hana K. Diamond Wood Oval Cushion Hairbrush

I own a similar boar bristle brush but that one gives me tons of static although it states Anti-Static. This one doesn't give me much static at all! It really smooths my hair down, I love the sleek effect. My only gripe about this brush is that the nylon bristles are quite scratchy and a gentle hand is needed or else the scalp might be irritated.

Overall: I am very satisfied with the Brushlove hairbrush line! The items are very high quality and are mostly sold in beauty supply stores such as ULTA. Some little qualities of the brush were not the greatest but no item is perfect. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

It's been so long since I've last posted, I've been very occupied with schoolwork, college applications and work!

I've hauled a little bit a long time ago but I haven't posted it -- it's my Sephora F&F Haul. Haha so long ago right?

I bought the Urban Decay 24/7 Super Stash eyeliner set and a Diorshine lipstick.

So colorful!

It comes with nine pencils and all of the colors are so vibrant, creamy and pigmented.

Currently I obsessed with using the black and brown one but I also love the navy and aubergine ones too. The sizes are a bit small: each one measures about 3 inches (including the cap). But that doesn't really matter since I'm don't use makeup every single day. If I love it enough, I'll buy the full size. I was thinking of getting the MUFE 4 eyeliner set but thought there were more colors in this set... Oh well! Maybe next time :)

Dior Addict High Shine Lipstick in Pink Couture

Lovely packaging right? It glows...

I love this color! So natural. I was compelled to buy it after seeing Fuz's swatch on Beauty Swatch. The formula is really smooth, buttery, and moist. It makes my lips watery which I love.

Do you see that strange picture in the background? That's the new Barney's catalogue.. hehehe

My Thanksgiving Dish!

My family doesn't really like turkey so we made a roast pork loin! Last year we made a roast beef dish but this year we tried something a little different... Despite the little chars on the top, doesn't it look mouthwatering?

It is seasoned with a little sea salt, rosemary and slathered in peppercorn mustard. Then you wrap it with strips of bacon and tie it up so everything stays together. Place some apples and onions on the side and roast for 90 or so minutes while checking to see if it's roasting nicely.

Review: Kose Clear Turn Hyaluronic Acid Mask

Today I will be reviewing a product! It's another mask... Yeah I know I've been only reviewing masks these days but I haven't been applying makeup lately due to stress induced acne (so sad right?)

Also I've been having some ear piercing infection problems since last week. I first got my earlobe pierced in August so my piercing is not that old yet. I wear all 14-18k gold/white gold earrings so not a problem with the metal allergy. Last week I had some yellowish puss, redness and swelling but I did a hot water sea salt bath for my ear everyday for 1 wk. I shouldn't have stopped but this week my ear seemed to be normal so I stopped. However now it's getting itchy again and my earlobe is still swollen (no redness though). I don't think it's really necessary to go to the doctor since there's no puss or bleeding. Right now I'm doing the salt bath again and using the solution from the piercing place. What do you all do when you get piercing infections?

- Very, very moisturizing! A+

- Mask fabric is thin but liquid solution is gel-like and very concentrated

- Mask fabric reminds me of a paper towel, sticks so well to my face and fits my face well

- After I pat residue on my face, my face is very smooth

- No scent, no irritation

Cons:

- Leaves a slight stickiness but goes away immediately after patting in residue

For my Japanese class I had to make a Kyaraben or Character Bento. Bento is a very big cultural aspect of Japanese life, bento is basically a lunch box or box food. There are varieties of bento from cheap convenience store bento to very deluxe and high quality bento with gourmet food (some cost 100 dollars or more...).

A kyaraben was originally a creation made by mothers for their children to make food appealing to eat. Also the kyaraben was made to combat picky eaters or other problems that some children have such as the dislike for vegetables. In general, the kyaraben is just so fun to look at and eat!

So this is my kyaraben...

Isn't it kind of scary and cute at the same time?

It's actually supposed to be Totoro but I'm not very good at making kyaraben to look exactly like the character so this is my best.. Haha. I'm going to try to make bento for myself at least once a week and maybe improve my cooking skills. Most kyaraben use cute cutters to make shapes and various accessories like decoration toothpicks. I have these little rice shaping molds that make rice into cute animals like rabbits, frogs, and bears but I don't know where those molds went!

Hauling: Sasa and Shu Uemura

Happy Belated Halloween! I didn't go out yesterday for any halloween celebration, I celebrated on Friday.

I also finished the early app that was due for November 1st :) Thank you to all of those who left very nice and comforting comments!

Here's my Halloween costume:

Do you know who I am? Take a guess. I'm a popular 60's cartoon character--which one? :)

I was in a group with a bunch of people doing all of the characters from this particular cartoon.

So I've made some hauls during the month of October that I haven't shared with you guys. I decided to take advantage of the sale at Sasa and go for the Silk Whitia buy one get one free deal. I picked three types of masks and and got 6 boxes in total... I'm not really sure if I love the Silk Whitia masks as some others do. I've used two kinds so far: the Anti Oxidation Whitening Mask and the Whitening and Moisturizing Mask. I also got the free little cookie mirror that came with the special free shipping deal but I found out I have the SAME exact one--my friend gave one to me last year.

My Initial Thoughts:

- After leaving it on for 25-30 minutes (maybe that's too long?), I felt the mask creating some filmy substance that peeled from my skin if I rubbed it

- No sticky residue but again, the strange peeling layer after drying on the skin

- Whitening action was moderate, moisture was good

- High quality fabric and very gel-like consistency

- Scent is a bit like baby wipes--not really appealing but not a bad scent

Can somebody tell me if this peeling thing happened to you too? It's like I put on a peeling mask and rubbed my face to remove the mask... Haha. Maybe it's because I left the mask on for too long...

Second haul was from Shu Uemura. I bought some items from the new Holiday '09 collection that features Tsumori Chisato. I bought only two items and none of them were makeup items. For some reason, the eyeshadow palettes didn't really appeal to me at all, most colors were not so special so I didn't buy them. I wanted the lipstick but I was afraid of the brownish color (however now that I see swatches.. I want it LOL). So I decided to get the two items that would really show the cute pattern and design of Tsumori Chisato.

2nd item: The Mirror

The box is not as cute but it's nice and simple.

It comes with a little pouch which is like this strange fleece like fabric... Reminds me of Old Navy pajamas that had the label: don't leave near fire/flame. I wish it came in a satin or velvet pouch!

Cute pattern right? I'm comparing it to my freebie Minnie Mouse mirror I got from the MORE magazine for September. It's very similar... -_-; The angle is a bit different though. I prefer the Tsumori Chisato/Shu Uemura mirror angle better.

Size is overall about the same. The pattern is adorable though! Maybe the cat mirror is a teeny bit studier than the Minnie mouse one.

Hello everybody!

Long time no update. It's been quite a while.. I don't think I've gone this long without updating.

My early action college application is due on November 1st so that's the reason why I'm not blogging. I'm still alive!

I noticed that 1-2 followers unfollowed me... Oh well. Who wants to read a blog that isn't updated regularly? I feel for you. Hope I don't disappoint!

I hope to update sometime during this weekend because I need to submit the application before November 1st anyway (don't want to be a last minute lady haha).

And Halloween! Oh stressful.

Happy Weekend everyone! I think as time goes on I update later and later every week. This week was so busy for me! I had 4 tests and other assignments due...

Today I will be posting about the GWP in the November Spring magazine, which was the Jill by Jill Stuart makeup pouch! Isn't it adorable? I love the heart print. I bought this about 2-3 weeks ago in Sanseido at the NJ Mitsuwa but my local Sanseido is really fast in stocking new magazines so maybe your local Kinokuniya or other bookstores might still have this magazine in stores.

It's actually quite roomy, look how much makeup and tools I can storage in here! That's about four eyeshadow palettes in there with more space available, 3 mascaras, 1 blush palette, two eyeliners, one E/s duo, a mirror, an eyelash curler, a powder foundation, and 3 concealers.

The pouch also extends on the sides so you can fit even more.

The goods inside! Haha I'm so proud that I made a dent in the Kevin Beautymaker concealer.

Product Review: My Beauty Diary Provence Lavender Mask

Out of the Package: Folded

On my face!

Pros

- Very soft and thick fabric! Not cheap material. Packaging is cute and compact too.

- Non sticky liquid, absorbs quickly into the skin and doesn't leave sticky residue

- Relatively cheap (but I received this from a friend. Thanks Penny!) Sold on Sasa, etc.

- Left my face very cool, soft and moist. Left it on for 25-30 minutes

- I hate artificial Lavender smells but this one didn't smell bad at all!! Smelled mild too :)

Cons

- Stung a tiny bit after the mask started drying in the end of 30 minutes

- The shape of the mask doesn't perfectly fit my face so I often have to fold over the sides

5/5 - Can't wait to get more!

Review: Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstick + Outfit

Happy Wednesday! (I'm still in Tuesday mode however).

I had the day off yesterday due to Yom Kippur Jewish holiday, my school is mainly Jewish and Korean so the majority wins and we had a day off :)

I'm going to be reviewing the Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstick today. It's been popular in the blog world lately because it's a new release and it's also a new favorite!

Here is the lipstick on my lips - the shade is Pink Me Up.

I forgot to do a swatch so I'll save that for later but one thing that I'd like to say is that this lipstick is pretty pigmented!!

Here are my thoughts in condensed form so it is easier for all of you to understand.

Pros

- Easily available in most drugstores

- Affordable price (around $7-8)

- Not too creamy, buildable pigmentation (vary from light to heavy application)

- Smell is not offending like European brands (Chanel, Dior, Bourjois, etc.)

- Can achieve watery look if desired

- Variety of colors available (4 categories: Nude, Pinks, Reds, Purples)

Cons

- Some batches of these were bad (smelled bad and tasted bad) Be careful! Sniff before buying.

- Packaging is a little annoying to remove entire plastic cap (but not that big of a deal)

What I think:

This is my first drugstore lipstick purchase in a LONG LONG time. I was hesitant to buy any lipstick from the drugstore after I experienced bad smelling, bad tasting stuff. This lipstick totally changed my perception of Maybelline lip products because it wasn't as nasty smelling as some other stuff in drugstores. I personally don't like lipsticks or any lip product that smell like roses or the "old lady smell." I am very sensitive to scents and I get nauseous if something too fragrant is on me for too long. This lipstick smells a bit like coconut or some buttery smell. It's not too bad but if you apply a lot it might be a tad strong. And as I stated above, BE CAREFUL, some batches were not good and the smell was terrible (like chemical).

I like this lipstick a lot, the color is buildable and I personally like a light hand for my lips. Usually I apply a lipbalm beforehand and then use this lipstick. Or if I want more shine, apply lipbalm, lipstick, then lipgloss.

If you have pigmented lips, I believe this lipstick can cover the color of your natural lips if applied with a heavy hand. Try it out! :)

Outfit/Clothes Update

I was fortunate to be able to order some articles of clothing from Zipia.net in a joint order with one person who I've been emailing back and forth (Thanks Davlyn!!) It came out successfully and this is one of the plaid shirts that I ordered that I love! It's very light and soft, perfect for those fall days that seem to be imitating summer.

How is the week going for everyone?

I haven't been totally absent from the blog world (I somehow still find time to comment sometimes... haha) but I've been negligent with my blog posts. FOTD is kind of out of the question since I don't have time to take a picture in the morning and most times the makeup has faded a bit by the time I come home. But I'll try one day!! :)

Product Review: Etude House 02 White Mask Sheet

So this post will cover a review on the Etude House O2 White Mask Sheet. I got this mask from Millie (Miu Miu) in a love pack back in July in return for some hair care things I sent her. I read somewhere that this mask is not actually a store product and is only offered as a free sample with purchase. The real product is called Etude House 02 White Mask and it comes in a big tub. You can read full reviews on the original product here at Ning*Star and Amynaree.

I didn't know what to think of this product when I first looked at it. I wasn't sure whether it was supposed to make my face "breathe" better or whiten it. Then I just guessed that it would be a whitening mask, after all, the WHITE is rather capitalized. Also I'm not able to read Korean so I didn't know what its main features were.

Scary Mask Pic:

Pros

- Whitened my face! A lot! Noticeable difference. I had uneven skin tone because I had gone scuba diving and got a weird uneven tan on my face... This mask improved the overall appearance of my skin tone

- Very soft and velvety mask material -- definitely not cheap material. It was thick, moist, and fit very well to my face.

- Scent was not overpowering and pleasant soapy/flowery perfume scent

- Liquid smoothed my skin and did not leave a sticky residue

- Slight tingly feeling when applied on my face

Cons

- This product is not sold in stores (I believe). Comes only in a tub, which is the original product. I received this as a gift and I read on some other blog that it was only offered as a GWP or something. However original tub product is available on Etude House USA website.

- It was scented -- I like unscented products. Sometimes I get scared that perfumes will irritate my skin but this scent was neither powerful or irritating! :)

Final Result

My skin is glowing!!! :) I like to use masks at least once a week or so. I used this one last week and prepared photos for a blog entry but didn't get to do a post last week. I wish this product was sold in stores because I really like it. Some people said that the original product that comes in the tub is not as pleasant smelling - like somehow chemical smelling? Not really sure... But now I want to get my hands on the tub product since I like this one so much. I have one more of this mask that I got from Millie so I'm going to save it when I really need it.

Hopefully this week I will be able to update again. During the weekend it is harder to update nowadays because of my part time job. I can't even wear nail polish... T_T So what I do is I apply polish either on Sunday night after I finish my job or Monday and then remove on Saturday night. Other than that I'm busy with school work and college applications (ugh my god. Help me! lol!)

Way back in May or June, Aileen and I were coordinating a swap together, I would get her some things from Japan that she wanted, and she would get me some Moomin and Marimekko things.

I sent out her package after I returned from Japan in late July and she received it relatively quickly, but the package she sent from Finland took until end of August, but I was happy that I was in suspense!! :)

Luckily it arrived safely and here it is in its glory:

Some Marimekko items, the red print is a notebook and the green printed on is the wrapping paper of a red pillowcase, it is adorable - I love it!!

Lots of Moomin themed items, I am obsessed with Moomin characters, they are so adorable! In Japan they have many moomin items as well but better from the country of its origin right? Here are some things sweet Aileen got for me: Moomin toothpaste, pillowcase, mug <3,>

The highlight of the package: the adorable Moomin mug! The pink one on the left is the one I bought in Japan (and currently using obsessively... Hehehe. The one on the right is Aileen's gift to me: ORIGINAL Moomin cup! Notice how the Moomin characters look a little different? The one on the left is more "modern" and the one on the right is the traditional drawing of Moomin.

Some awesome Lumene samples and a Cleansing emulsion, can't wait to try it! I don't think I have a cleansing milk at the moment so we'll see how this works on me. I believe CVS carries Lumene in their stores in the US but I've never purchased from there since the price is not that cheap. Hope this works for me, and it's great that it's "sensitive" because I tend to get allergies from perfume and heavy products.

Last but not least, a necklace with adorable handmade clay cakes and sweets! This is the best part, and Aileen kindly made me a cell phone charm too (which I couldn't take a good picture of.. T_T) I love Aileen craftmanship, so delicate and well made! Thank you so much~

Wow I haven't updated for more than a week, very sorry.

School just started again this Tuesday so I've been extremely busy trying to adjust to a new schedule and get homework done, but finally it is the weekend!

I also started a part-time job on Sundays so my weekend relaxing time has been reduced... It's hard work and this Sunday is my second time there.

Fuz and Mel's YT Contest Entry - Channeling Jackie O

Hello everyone! Glad to inform you that I entered Fuz and Mel's youtube contest... it took me hours (haha more like days) to finish everything! But I'm happy at the outcome.

I finally made a video.... wow I couldn't even make a picture tutorial before but look at me now! Haha! But I can't bring myself to talk or do makeup in front of the camera so you'll have to watch a picture slideshow :D

Haha the FOTD look that I did for the video... Oh and I entirely forgot to mention that I got my ears pierced after like what, 6 years of wanting them? But I did get lazy after I passed the age that I was allowed to get pierced ears.. hehe.

The look was done using the L/E eyeshadow palette from Maquillage featuring Alexander Wang. It's quite nice for a neutral palette, I really liked the purple cream liner but wasn't too crazy about the neutral shades--kind of overdone perhaps? But it is a nice palette! Will do swatches and maybe a review later.

My entry was an inspired fashion slideshow and makeup tutorial on Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. Her fashion is truly classic and celebs today are wearing her looks!

Finally an update!! I'm back from Bonaire! Will post pictures in the near future.

I was tagged by Lisa from Shopn'Chomp to do this fun tag to show you what is inside my bag... Thank you Lisa love!

As the title entails, you are all snooping into my bag! :)

This is my current bag. A bit small, but perfect for me since I'm not in school at the moment. School starts from September 8th, so soon!! Ah I've got 2 essays to write and a book to finish.. ugh and it is Great Expectations by Charles Dickens (if any of you read that, you may know it is about 400-500 pgs.) So I digress.

The brand is Diesel, I received it as a gift from my aunt in Japan! I believe this bag might be only available in Japan but here's a link I found from the US: Diesel Sea Jet Rincon Bag It retails for $95.00 USD, I think...

The thing I like about it most is that it reminds me of the ever-famous Balenciaga motorcycle bag! Which is one of my dream bags... haha (I love studs and rock&roll inspired designs, plus I love dark designs--such as skulls, etc.)

Now onto my updated daily skincare regimen, stole this from Lisa again as well! I tried to put the links where you can purchase, but not all products were found. Enjoy!

Morning

1. Kiehls Brightening Botanical Cleansing Cream - morning facewash. Don't know if it really whitens. Well.. it kinda does. It makes my skin luminous in the morning.

2. Balancing Lotion - alternate between several different alcohol free toners. I like DHC Olive Leaf Lotion as well, or Acerola... whatever my mood is, or need to finish. This one is pretty gentle, but not amazing. It just keeps my skin normal.. haha.

3. Kevin Beautymaker Aquamarine Hydrating Serum - Like this a lot. But when I got a tan, didn't fully keep my dry/sundamaged skin hydrated as much as I'd liked. But recommend this item.

4. Kevin Beautymaker Aquamarine Hydrating Lotion - Great product, again same as above. Keeps skin hydrated for normal conditions (not super dry skin)

5. Kiehls Ultra Facial Moisturizer SPF15 - Love the moisturizing, wish they have one with more SPF, at least SPF 30. I like this because it's not greasy at all and absorbs really nicely. Repurchased many times!

6. Biore UV Moist Face Milk in SPF 50+ PA +++ - Nice, not that moisturizing as it claims, I need that Kiehls one before I apply this. I just want the SPF protection. This has a powdery finish so it is good for makeup base. For summer I guess this is moderately moisturizing, but not for winter!

Night

1. Lancome Bi-Facil Eyemakeup Remover - Love this! I have so many sample size bottles so I don't have to buy the full-size. Hehe. Almost done with this bottle. I'm going to reuse the bottle and fill it with my Neutrogena eyemakeup remover...

2. DHC Deep Cleansing Oil - Makeup remover, oil cleanser. Removes much of my makeup, even stubborn mascara. Scent is kinda herbal, but overall good. Not as oily as Shu Uemura.. Somehow I don't like Shu cleansing oil because the oiliness feeling remains. This doesn't have that problem.

3. Rohto Hadalabo Hyaluronic Gokujyun Facewash - Loving this. I alternate between this and my DHC facewash. Doesn't strip moisture! Great product.

4. DHC Olive Leaf Lotion - Great toner! Repurchased at least 5-6 times. Used for many years, I will continue using this. A little pricy I think $38 for one bottle? But I like it... Keeps my spots from showing up! Even though I'm young, I am very prone to getting spots on my face after sun exposure. And they are like the beauty mark spots, so they are pretty dark and prominent!

5. DHC Q10 Lotion - I ran out of the Olive Leaf one so now I'm using this. Haha I just kept the empty bottle to show you guys... This one is $36 per bottle. I like this, very moisturizing.

6. DHC Olive Leaf Milk - Great moisturizer, but I usually use something over this winter and summer. This is not enough moisture by itself for me! But it's a great product, makes my skin so soft and smooth, prevents lots of skin damage from sun and other harsh weather.

7. Kevin Beautymaker Skin Repair Wakening Gel - This is pretty nice, love the cooling sensation. I used to use Shiseido's Pureness line gel moisturizer but this is nice too, little different. I like the hydrating feature, but again, it's just good for maintaining moisture for normal conditions. I got a little tan and tanned skin tightens up and gets dry, this didn't really moisturize THAT much. But like this overall.

Special Care Items

1. Mangosteen Peeling Gel by Sweet & Sour - Love this! My 2nd bottle. Can be found in Tokyu Hands or Loft in Japan. Great peeling gel, I don't think I can change to any other... haha.

2. Clear Turn White Mask by Kose - Big 22 sheet box, great for everyday or every other day use. Good enough for daily use.

3. Burt's Bees Pomegranate Replenishing Lipbalm - Love this! I hated the scent at first but now I love it... how weird. I'm almost done with it, gotta repurchase! LOL. Started using this after I ran out of my La Mer lip balm. Gah gotta buy that La Mer one too. The reason I like this is you don't have to stick dirty fingers in the pot, like La Mer.

4. DHC Pimple Spot - Not sold in USA DHC. Like this a lot.. it's like potent salicylic acid. I'm not sure what it exactly is, but it's very fluidy liquid, not a cream or ointment. It shrinks my pimples! I don't get many breakouts of zits or acne but the occasional pimple will die with this in hand!

Extra Note:

1. Might be having a blog sale soon -- Japanese products that many of you can't access... and some other junk haha.

2. I'm interested in purchasing a few things from ZIPIA online clothing store but I don't want to spend $300 for myself. If anyone is interested, let me know if you want to split an order. In Paradise? Partially.

Updating with slightly slow internet from an island called Bonaire (one of the Netherland Antilles--Aruba, Curacao, Bonaire).

I am on vacation with my parents and we are scuba diving!

All sounds well except for the fact that the plane to Bonaire from Newark was a disaster!

I've been to Bonaire 5 times, this is the 5th year and I've never experienced such a problem with Continental airline service...

The plane's weather radar went kaput, and they were not allowed to fly the aircraft with such a condition, thus we turned back around after 30 min of taking off and flying. But the "turning around" took about 2 extra hours: probably due to making sure the new aircraft was ready and "turning around" = circling around.

Landed back to Newark around 3 am, left Newark around 12 am before. The crew promised to quickly board onto the new aircraft, which would take only 30 minutes since the flight was not full, capacity was 140, 70 passengers aboard. Another lie! -_-;

Everyone was waiting in the new gate when suddenly a woman pulled up with her handy dandy golf cart contraption. "I'm sorry but you'll have to take this flight tomorrow morning at 11 am."

Ok... supposedly the crew went illegal and were not supposed to fly within their hours. That's fine. But tomorrow morning at 11am? Why not earlier?

Then everyone went through the whole process of booking hotels through Continental and food vouchers, all that stuff. It's their loss! hahaha.

So I stayed in an airport hotel (luckily it was a nice one!). I didn't have any change of clothes but did have emergency necessities such as: toothpaste, toothbrush, skincare samples, eyedrops, etc etc.

The next morning we departed the hotel at 8 am to be at the gate by 9 am, then leave Newark at 11 am. Everyone was there... but two. I guess they missed the flight, and it took another 20 min for the staff to remove their baggage from the plane.

So, arrival time was 4 pm, lost a whole day of diving, but all was fine! It wasn't an awfully stressful experience at all... The people were cooperating so nicely because they were tired and understanding... haha!

So I'm not really updating on any beauty stuff since this internet is so slow to upload any pictures right now, and I'm ready to pass out any minute! :D

Review: Hada Labo Hyaluronic Face Wash + Giveaway Winner

Today's review will be about the Gokujyun Super Hyaluronic Face Wash by Rohto. Phew, long name!

I got this in Japan because I forgot my facewash on my trip. I paid 732 yen in the drugstore, which is not too expensive.

This can be purchased online at these places for a reasonable price:

Sasa - Gokujyun Face Wash - $7.50 <-- cheaper!!

Imomoko - Gokujyun Face Wash - $12.00

So what is Hyaluronic Acid?

- It is a very common ingredient in skin care products and plays an integral role in maintaining and regulating moisture. Hyaluronic acid is naturally found in all body tissue, with the highest concentration in the exterior matrix of the skin.

But we all lose the concentration of hyaluronic acid in our bodies as we grow older so it is important to replenish it with our skin care products! :)

This is how the face wash looks, it is a pure white color. The packaging says that there is no scent, no color, no alcohol and oil-free. This is great because I don't really like scented products, I'm very sensitive to scent and I get nauseous if they are too overpowering.

Spread out onto the skin, of course if you had more water it will become a little bit more foamy but I don't think this has sulfates so it doesn't foam up that much at all. The consistency is milky.

Here's the back of the tube with more information, basically it's explaining what Super Hyaluronan is, there's also a diagram that explains how there is a lack of hyaluronic acid on the surface of the skin, and if you use this face wash, it will increase the number of (molecules? lol idk what word to use). The first picture on the left is regular Hyaluronic acid, then the next picture is Super hyaluronic acid, which is 2x as more hyaluronan.

Pros

- Really moisturizing, no flaky spots at all. When I did a portion of my hand, only that spot was soft and the other areas were not as soft.

- No strong scent (maybe very mild soap scent), no colorant, no alcohol, no oil

- Not that expensive

- Hada Labo line includes many other products like moisturizer, face mask sheets, toner, and more (same Hyaluronic Acid type or others like AHA/BHA and etc.)

- Easy dispenser, tube

Cons

- Not enough product, when I bought mine it was like 75-80% full, now I only have like 50% left

- Japanese product so not readily available in the States but accessible through online retailers

Overall

I really love this face wash, it is very moisturizing, it doesn't strip any original moisture on my face. Also I love that there is no strong scent! The consistency is not that watery, more like thick milky texture. I have another facewash that I love, it is the DHC one. That one foams up more like regular soap but it is as moisturizing but it has an herbal scent (rosemary-ish).

Weekend Update - West 14th & Soho, Haircut

I spent my Thursday in New York City, visiting Chelsea Market, shopping in Meatpacking district (window shopping of course! way too expensive there), and shopping around Soho and Greenwich Village. Has anybody been paying attention to the Next Food Network Star show? I didn't know Food Network was in Chelsea Market!! I wanted to go in but the security guard told us we were not allowed -_-;

Of course, Thursday is hardly the weekend but let's just say I'm a little lazy...

Sadly no beauty-related content today because my damn photos wouldn't upload correctly! I had a Lunasol FOTD and tutorial to show you all but Blogger would load them vertically instead of horizontally like I had saved them as. Frustrating!

My new haircut:

As many of you know, I go to Michi located in Edgewater, NJ. I've been going there for about 5 years now, and my stylist is Miho. If you happen to be in the area, stop by Michi in Mitsuwa.

My new haircut is an A-line bob. I will post up my inspiration picture next time. The last time I had my hair short was like 4 years ago. It's a nice change for once.

Sigh... ok side view. It's kind of a wispy feel. Very light, layered, and thinned out. If you have bob hair, it looks terrible if your hair is heavy and thick. You might risk looking like a lamp shade from behind. You want to have lighter layers and some movement.

My wonderful stylist to the left, Miho-san! :) I feel like a giant next to her because she is very short... but I am only 5'2"!

After a shampoo this is what my hair looks like naturally.

I bought an ice shaver. I'm wreaking havoc!

This is one of my favorite desserts in the whole world: Kakigori (Patbingsu in Korean) and shaved ice in English! I think I ate this dessert like 5 times within the past 3 days.

It's not that fattening because notice I only have a bit of red bean, mochi and condensed milk. Ok maybe it is a LITTLE fattening.. but the rest is basically water.

The green stuff is this homemade green tea syrup I made from sugar starch syrup (idk the Japanese name is Mizu Ame) mixed with a little water and some green tea powder. Ah so delicious! If I have time I will take a picture of my little ice shaver machine :D

New Layout

Fuz helped me way back in May with my layout and kindly gave me tips on HTML and colors, etc.

So now my layout is much more organized and easier to read, I finally took the time to change things up a bit.

Thank you so much Fuz!!! I really owe you one :) I'm sorry it took so long.. T_T

I'm going to post something tonight so pls wait for that.

Also at first I didn't know how to change the font color for the post title (it is in pink now) but then I figured it out... I'm just leaving it the way it is for now because I'm so tired. But do you like the pink or should I change it to some other color? Any suggestions?

Weekend Update - Mitsuwa Summer Festival

So last Saturday 8/8, I went to the Summer Festival aka Natsu Matsuri (夏祭り) held annually at the NJ Mitsuwa in Edgewater. In Japan around the summer months of July and August it is Obon season. Although an Obon matsuri (festival) is a lively event, Obon is a holiday held to honor the deceased ancestors. Usually every weekend in Japan there is a festival in different towns consisting of fireworks celebrations, food vendors, taiko performances, and Bon Odori (bon dance). Unfortunately I wasn't able to attend one in Japan because it was a little too early in the season and I missed the really big Sumidagawa fireworks (also too lazy to go because it was so crowded).

So in these matsuri, usually attendees wear the traditional summer kimono or yukata. A yukata may look beautiful on the outside but actually it is quite painful to wear one... There are two cloth himo (ropes) that must be tied around before the obi (big belt) is put on. They must be tied on very tightly or else the yukata will fall apart. If they are not snug, then the yukata doesn't look nice. At first I felt like I couldn't breathe, but this isn't my first time putting one on so it wasn't that bad. Last year I was constantly nauseous because the obi was so tight but this year was not too bad. I got a little sick when in the car but the standing position is actually the best.

In total there are about 3-4 rope layers before the obi is put on. I put two ropes, then one flat shaped pad to maintain the smooth appearance of the front of the obi.

Here is how I look in my yukata.

Since nowadays nobody wears the kimono as daily wear, many people feel like they are more 'beautiful' when wearing one (in my opinion). It's almost like a treat to wear one and receive so much attention and compliments. After the matsuri I went to a restaurant and everyone was staring because I live in the US, and nobody wears yukata here. I got so many compliments though! It was actually a fun experience.

Here I am with my very good friend, we went together. Some traditional patterns on yukatas are flowers (mine are sakura), fish (like goldfish and carps), and other nature related patterns. My friend's yukata have small goldfish but you can't see in this picture. I also have another light blue yukata with pink goldfish but didn't wear it this time.

These little girls were so cute I had to take a picture! Their obi are not hard like mine, they are like sashes, much softer and more comfortable! The wooden shoes you see on the right are called 'geta.'

I wore my hair in the odango style, the cute white flower hairpin is courtesy of Eki! Haha and if you spot that white thing sticking out of my obi.. that is not part of my obi. It is a napkin I just stuck there because I had nowhere to throw it out! haha! :D

Here is the Bon Odori, as you can see, mostly old ladies are dancing. Oh and if you see that cute guy on the right side, he was really good at dancing! Even better than me.

Haha.. Me trying to keep up with the steps. I've done traditional dancing before in Japan one time, I even performed with my other friend (but we messed up and had to go on the stage twice -_-). Even though it looks so easy, it is quite hard to keep up!

This is the Taiko performance. Wow what an ab workout! I can't believe they have to lie down and hit the taiko... They must be so tired after doing two performances. Watch my video to see how they sounded.

Hm if you noticed in the Bon Odori video I said "Video tochatta" hahaha it means "Oops I took a video." in Japanese... I was going to take a picture but then ended up in video.. Oh well that is kind of good, I have something to show you guys now!

REVIEW: DHC Q10 Liquid Foundation + FOTD: Peachy Bronze

I was asked to do a review on the DHC Q10 Liquid Foundation quite a while ago by IchigoBunnie, sorry to keep you waiting!

I briefly reviewed this product in the past but never took any pictures of the product on my face. Also I reviewed it in the winter, not summer so the results may be different.

The shade I have is Pink Ocher 02, I was not matched by a SA. I actually received this from a family member who did not match this shade so I don't know if this shade actually is that perfect for me. So far it is pretty good match I suppose?

The bottle is not that big and it contains 1 fl. oz of foundation fluid. There is a nozzle so it is hygenic, you do not have to keep dipping fingers into a jar or anything like that. This is one of the features that I like about this foundation.

Site description: "Sheer and glowing. Not too heavy, not too light--sheer, moderate SPF 15 coverage that's just right. Enriched with age-defying coenzyme Q10, hydrating olive oil, and UV damage--fighting olive leaf extract, help even out skin tone and give yourself a beautiful glow. Non-greasy texture feels weightless on skin."

There's more info on the DHC site, access the link here. There is a variety of shades that match shades for all ethnicities, not only Asian complexions. The cost of this foundation is $17.50 USD.

Texture is quite runny, look at it dripping along my palm. This means that it provides sheer coverage. The coverage on me is sheer, does not cover any dark freckles I have (or beauty spots, whatever you want to call them).

Here it is blended a little on my hand. I got a little tan on my hand so it might not match perfectly on the hand...

Haha scary face~ No foundation, just moisturizer on the face. I am facing a window just in case you were wondering.

So you can see that it didn't really cover much. But it did even out my complexion a little. The finish is not exactly dewy but it is glowy. It is a little on the matte side? This foundation is not very moisturizing so it seeps into lines or dry skin. You might want to avoid that by putting on a primer beforehand. In this picture I did not use a primer and I did not use a finishing powder.

Overall

After about 6-7 hrs I blotted around nose, cheek and forehead area. I get the most oily around the nose, other areas don't get that oily.

Pros:

- Sheer if you like light coverage

- Glowy but not overly dewy

- Natural finish

- Light for humid weather

- Lots of shades to match different skintones

- Easy access in US - order from DHC US website

- Nozzle application, not messy

Cons:

- Runny formula

- A little drying in the wintertime

- Settles into dry skin, need to use primer

Back from Japan with Packages at my Doorstep!

I am back from Japan! I miss it already T_T It was such a quick trip... I spent so much money and I cannot even begin to organize a haul post.. LOL Maybe I'll just make a video.

I'm trying to settle down now, I still have a jetlag and I get so sleepy around 3-6 pm for some reason. I hope to work on some reviews that I was requested for a long while ago. I am sorry to make you wait! Anyway, keep reading to see what I was greeted with upon my return home.

Wow a huge pile of packages were waiting for me on my desk when I came back home from Japan this Monday: prize package from Eki's cosplay contest, love pack from Millie (Miu Miu), giveaway win from Kathi from Lotus Palace, Lunasol haul from ebay during my trip (hahah.. -_-) and Perricone MD giveaway win via Fuz's blog.

It must have been my lucky few weeks that I won Fuz's giveaway and Kathi's (2nd time because the first winner did not contact). Thank you!

These were the two e/s palettes I bought from Ebay for a very nice price! I bought the Sheer Contrast Eyes in Orange Coral 05 for I think $39? Then I also got the Blooming Eyes in Summer Pink Gradation for $36. Nice deal!! :)

Haven't played around with them yet... Can't wait to use them! My first Lunasol purchases for such a good price.

Miffy pens (which are great btw, thank you so much!), samples galore and Simbiosis etsy pouch.

Look at the samples! One of the foundations leaked onto the pouch but today I was able to wash it and it came off very easily, so happy!

Package from Millie (Miu Miu). Such cute stickers, reminds me of my elementary school years when I collected these kinds of stickers.

A bunch of Skinfood samples, RMK foundation samples (which I have been dying to try but forgot to get some in Japan), Etude house e/s and masks, etc. Also a really lovely letter from Millie. This was in return for some shampoo & conditioner samples I sent her. Thank you so much Millie, love everything!

Cute Etudehouse e/s palette, with colors that match me so well. I love this kind of edgy, dark eyeshadow color. You have nice taste, Millie! My first Korean makeup item.

Perricone MD giveaway win from Fuz with two extra samples. The Perricone MD rep didn't contact me for a while so I had to email her but after that I got quick respones~ haha x)

I am not going to use this for myself and gave it to my mom. Hope to see nice results on her! Will update everyone if this product is nice and works for her.

Okinawan Paradise

Wow I can't believe it has already been more than a week since I last posted! Sorry... I don't have much time to update my blog these days, I am getting lazy to upload pictures.. Plus the internet is not as fast as my computer back in NJ.

The weather has been SO hot and humid lately, luckily no heavy rain but some little trickles. I am sweating buckets everyday! It is disgustingly humid T-T

I just came back from Okinawa, if you don't know, it is a small island to the south of Japan, previously briefly occupied by Americans during WWII and home to the Ryuku people! It is very different from mainland Japan and VERY HOT! The sun is 7 times as strong as the sun rays in Tokyo, I got burned a little after two hours of snorkeling even though I lathered on so much sunscreen.

So I will show you some pictures of my 3 day trip to Okinawa, I went with my friend as well, she has more pics but I don't have access to her pics atm.

This is the famous Churaumi Aquarium where there are 3 huge whale sharks, which I'd like to see in person! I didn't bring my PADI diving card, hehe I have Advanced Scuba certification and Nitrox certification... :) Too bad I could not scuba dive in Okinawa, that is what many people go there for. However I did do some snorkeling!

Kind of blurry but you can see the whale shark right? Don't worry, it only eats plankton so it is a very kind and gentle creature. There were some Manta rays as well and they were so cool! I also really want to see some manta rays in person.

And the ocean is even prettier, such nice gradation colors hahaha.

Haha.. This is me. I look like such a tourist.. the skirt also makes me look slightly pregnant but oh well -_-;

Some souvenirs, they are selling Sata Andagi, which is sort of like a donut. It is round and the inside is dry. Tastes yummy ;) There are also some tropical fruits there, like mango and dragonfruit. Oh and if you mention Okinawa, the most famous vegetable is the Goya! It is green and bumpy, and in English you would call it Bitter Melon. It is very bitter, but it is tasty as well. Some special fruits from Okinawa are Sheekwasa, (I have no idea how to spell it) but it is like a small citrus fruit that tastes like lime and little bit grapefruit, and lemon... It is so nice, especially the juice made from it.

This is a souvenir dessert made of Beni Imo, which is a purple potato. I tried samples of this Beni Imo tart but it was not that good... Haha.

A very popular symbol you might see in Okinawa is this lion creature, it is called a Shiisa. They are everywhere on the buildings, signs, and they have many sculptures all over the place.

This palace is called Shurijou, an old palace where the Ryuku dynasty ruled. The main part is under construction right now so I could not get a very nice picture.

I came back yesterday night and I'm back in Tokyo now! I have about a week and few more days to go in Tokyo. Time goes by so quickly, I want to stay longer! I still have more shopping to do... Hehe I bought many things but haven't shown all. Anyway hope everyone is doing well, sorry I cannot comment or view blogs frequently, but I try!

100 Yen Haul & Household Life

Good evening from Japan!
Yesterday afternoon I went over to Nakano (中野 - Access by JR Chuo-Sobu or Chuo line) for some 100 yen shopping at Daiso.
Although Nakano isn't really a big shopping area or anything, I went to check out the Broadway plaza (which is a long indoor road with lots of little shops - a "happy road"?) but didn't really find anything interesting.
The Daiso in Nakano didn't have any cosmetic items! I was so disappointed T-T but the one in Koenji (where my "home" atm is), had more things, like false eyelashes haha x)

Update from Japan!

It's been forever since I've last updated! I can't believe that I am finally in Japan, I arrived on July 7th (Japanese time) and got on the Narita Express train to Shinjuku, then transfered over to Chuo line for my grandfather's home.

I haven't actually really bought anything so I have no haul pics! I actually don't even have normal pics... Sorry! Just arrived, still trying to get over the jet lag. I am going out to Nakano today for some 100 yen shopping at Daiso, hopefully I can take some pics later and upload them to show hehe.

Anyway just wanted to let everyone know that I am safe and sound in Tokyo! The weather is not so great, humid and raining all week, but that's ok. Hope to update later tonight.

Ok, so last week I made an order through Imomoko.com for some Kevin Beautymaker skincare products, popularly raved by Fuz. I bought the Skin Repair Wakening Gel, the Aquamarine Hydrating Serum, Aquamarine Hydrating Lotion (which I stupidly thought was a toner since some Asian companies call toner, lotion), and Aqua Eye Concealer in Shade #1 Bright.

Many were not available through the site but after emailing Betty, she updated and made them available for purchase again. Thank you so much Betty, great customer service!! :)

This is the Aqua Eye Concealer in Shade #1. I really like the consistency, it's really smooth and light and melts into the skin!

The first pic is my eye with no makeup on and no concealer. The second pic is with the Beautymaker concealer on the undereye area. I think it's pretty nice and brightens up the eye area.

Here is my favorite lipstick at the moment, for the Beauty Swatch Giveaway contest.

It is Clinique Color Surge Bare Brilliance lipstick in Pink Beach (22).

A swatch of the lipstick: very sheer with golden and silver shimmers and close to my natural lip color. The consistency of the lipstick is really smooth and moisturizing. I think this is a sample size lipstick so I'm not really sure on the availability of this shade.

So last Sunday I woke up at 7 am to bid on these Maquillage items on Ebay... and won! Hehe :)

These is my first Japanese department store makeup purchase!! And for $62 for all, not bad! :D

This is what the E/S palette looks like: 3 shimmer e/s and 1 highlighting base and 1 creme liner.

I went out shopping this afternoon to help my friend buy her graduation dress so I put some effort and finally made an FOTD with the Maquillage e/s palette ;) In the mirror, the e/s looked so sparkly and shimmery but then in normal light it looked normal--not like a disco ball.

Btw I dyed my hair yesterday to tone down my previous reddish hair...

First I went to a mall called the Palisades Mall in Nanuet, upstate NY. That mall had nothing!! Well I did buy a couple of undies at Gilly Hicks because of their Summer Sale. We didn't find any nice graduation dress for my friend there so then we dropped by Garden State Plaza in Paramus, NJ. It was so bad there! Raining like crazy and parking was so hard to find... So many cars. But luckily I was able to spot some random guy pulling out. :)

edit: In the end... we were able to find a very nice graduation dress for my friend at H&M, a casual and bit ruffly shirt turquoise shirt dress.

Happy weekend! I'm so glad it is finally Saturday.
I've been MIA for this week and neglecting to comment back on everything, sorry about that! This week was finals week for me, I had one everyday except Wednesday and two more on Monday. After next week I'm done with school for this year! Woohoo :)

Anyway so I have so much to update about and I promise to do so later tonight, please wait for it.

Kose Clear Turn White Mask Review + Haul + Reminders

Finals week has finally arrived, I have my first final tomorrow! Wednesday I don't have anything because that was an AP class and Monday is double final for my double language (Spanish & Japanese<--should be easy hehe).

Anyhow I'm going to be reviewing the Kose Clear Turn Essence White Mask today. This is the description of the product on Sasa: Essence with Vitamin C conductor soaked the whole box of mask. It penetrates throug horny layer to whiten your skin with transparent feeling.

HAHA horny layer?? Gotta love "engrish" descriptions...

I purchased this mask box of 22 masks at Mitsuwa market in Edgewater, NJ. The box was on sale for $15.99, I'm not sure what the original price is. Somehow on Sasa this mask box is only $8.50, maybe it's on sale? However at the moment it is sold out on Sasa. This mask sheet box comes in three other kinds: Hyaluronic Acid, Collagen, Q10. I really want to try the Hyaluronic Acid one...

These masks have less serum in them so you can use them everyday, or 2-3 times a week, depending on your preference. Even though they might have less serum, I think they're pretty effective. The recommended time to leave this mask on is 10-15 min, I like to leave it for 15-20 min.

I've used this mask every other day for the past week and it's very refreshing! The previous week I was having problems with hydration around my eyes; the skin was flaking and red due to allergies (I was scratching my eyes). After I started using this mask, all of the flaky skin went away gradually and my skin was really hydrated.

Pros

- No sticky residue left over

- Product claims to fit nicely on the face -- I agree, it's better than the DHC fitting

- 22 masks for $16 is a good deal

- I like to use this almost everyday because masks are refreshing to me

- Hydrates my face without causing any breakout/reaction/oiliness

- Slight brightening after removal

Cons

- Packaging is a little flimsy: reseable flap sometimes doesn't seal securely

- Serum doesn't dry quickly after removal: need lots of patting

- The mask sometimes dries up quickly on one side and flaps around my face

Weekend Update/Haul:

So remember how I told you that I was going to the Estee Lauder/Aramis Warehouse sale on Saturday June 13th? Well... That was a disappointment!! I was hoping to find some huge MAC sales going on since it is after all, Estee Lauder warehouse. I woke up at 6AM and left the house at 6:45 AM to pick up two friends and go to Oakland, NJ. There was a small line of people when we got there are 7:15 AM. Then as time passed the line got longer and longer. Most of the people there were the hispanic workers that I think worked at the warehouse, since they seemed to know the employees at the warehouse sale. There were some younger people who seemed like they were interested in MAC products (like me) and maybe watched those Youtube videos of people buying lots of stuff at the Toronto MAC warehouse.

I went into the warehouse and browsed through the whole place and didn't find anything! The stuff they had were like Aramis/Estee Lauder perfume sets, Clinique set bags, Estee Lauder set cosmetic pouches, and one little Bobbi Brown set pouch. None of the things were that enticing or "rare items" like the MAC finds that people get in the Toronto warehouse T-T

Anyway, so here's how the process goes with these warehouse sales:

- Line up (make sure you go early before it opens or you will not get the good stuff)

- Enter, check ID with pass, then grab a box with a string on it

- Follow a line and keep moving while grabbing stuff (if you find anything.. haha)

- Get a mix bag if you want surprises and good deal

- Better to pay with cash because sometimes the credit line is long

- Ask the employees for product info if you don't see a specific brand! The Estee Lauder warehouse I went to had a Company Store in the back that had MAC, Clinique, Estee Lauder, and Bobbi Brown makeup products (similar to CCO)

I went into the Company Store in the back that was a lot like CCO but I feel the CCO in Woodbury had more stuff! There was a limited selection and I only purchased 2 MAC eyeshadows: Lotusland and Top Hat (pretty colors, price is meh (not bargain cheap that you would expect in warehouses) $10.25). My mom got two Bobbi Brown e/s.

My friends and family were so disappointed that we went to the nearby town called Ridgewood, looking for some place to eat at. We were originally planning to eat some dimsum but it was closed.. So then we found this great pancake house that is specialized in JUMBO pancakes for cheap price! It comes with two large size pancakes or 4 medium size (which looks like large to me). Each large pancake was the size of a small pizza! It was so large... We also ordered french toast and belgian waffles which were both gigantic as well.

Then we stopped by the Container Store for some organizer for my kitchen and I picked up these two travel shampoo bottles for 79 cents each. They look okay :)

The two high end lippies by Dior and Chanel were the main prize but she kindly included many extras including two Molton Brown shower gels (love them!), a MAC lippie palette, and a Bobbi Brown mini case (sadly the mirror cracked throughout the rough mailing from UK to US but it's all good!).

Weekend Purchases:

On Saturday I hit the shops in Soho and Madison Ave/5th Ave with a good male buddy of mine. Surprisingly I didn't spend that much money however my friend did a little bit too much spending... *cough*shopaholic*cough* I went over to Uniqlo and picked up two tunic-style shirts, one for a friend's birthday and one for me. They're having a sale for 2 UT t-shirts for $24.90!

Last was the Sephora store! I successfully restrained myself and only bought the MUFE Lift Concealer after doing extensive homework on reviews and etc. Thanks to Iyah and Fuz I was convinced! Thank you :)

Quick Review on MUFE Lift Concealer in 1: I asked the SA which color would best suit my skintone even though I knew that 1 would probably be the best choice and 1 it was! What I am looking for in a concealer: light-medium coverage, neutralizing of blue/purple tone, and brightening for undereye area. So far I've used this three times and it's very nice. The shade is like a light pink tone that will cancel out the bluish tone of the blood vessel under the eye. I blend this with a more natural skintone color for little more coverage, it does a good job! This concealer also has skin-care properties to lift the eyearea for any sagging. I'll do a more extensive review on this concealer with pics later on.

On Sunday I went to Mitsuwa for a haircut and picked up the Kose Clear Turn White Mask. This mask box comes with 22 masks, that's a lot! The instructions state that to use the mask at least 2-3x a week. I haven't tried this on myself yet but I offered my mom to try one, she said that it wasn't as good as the DHC face mask. Will do a review on this product too.

On Sunday morning I went over to Michi Hair Salon in Edgewater, NJ at Mitsuwa for a haircut. If you remember, Fuz went over to the same salon last weekend. Way back in February I recommended Fuz try this salon as I've been going there for about 4 years but she went to another in Chinatown. Surprisingly she went to Michi last week and I was so shocked because she got the same stylist who does my hair!

If anyone is looking for a nice Japanese style hairdresser in the NJ/NY area, go to Michi Salon in Mitsuwa! Also ask for the stylist Miho (or Izumi the owner if Miho isn't available), who does my hair and cut Fuz's last wk. If you happen to go there, please mention that Mika recommended you to try!

Prices are reasonable for the type of service you receive, an average haircut for women costs about $50-60 without tip. If you mention you are a student, they might give you a discount.

So what I asked her for my cut was more layers to reduce heaviness of the hair, haphazardly placed bangs and thinning to encourage volume and natural waves.

I don't color my hair at Michi because I want to save money and I could do a pretty good job myself. I need to dye my hair again soon... The pictures are a bit misleading, my hair isn't actually that red. The dye I used was Palty brand.

Blogger Space Tag:

I was tagged by Innerchild, Zwala, and Nic Nic a few wks ago to do this blogging space tag. Here is my desk where I do all of my computer work, blogging, and studying. The pic doesn't show my full desk because I didn't want to show you my messy paperwork all over the place. Do you like my orange chair? It's so cute but it's not that comfortable after spending a few hours on the computer.

Crochet Scrunchies + Life Update

Happy Friday everyone! It's finally the weekend... Although I have SAT Literature&World Hist. test tomorrow morning T-T

So I've started making these crochet yarn scrunchies after reading about the whole scrunchie ("shu shu" in Japanese) craze in Japan! They are so cute, I'm definitely going to pick up some in Japan in July. I just started making them yesterday and already finished two!

The first one I made is made from pink mohair-ish yarn with silver sparkly string. Isn't it so cute? Would anyone buy these if I make more? :D

Here it is in my odango hair bun. I love it! Thanks to my Japanese magazine Cutie I've learned how to make these cute scrunchies :) And then I put my X-girl scrunchie that came free with another Japanese magazine. Isn't it so cute but wild? Hehe.

Here are two that I made last night--pink and red/orange one. Right now I'm making a blue/purple one... I'll post them as I finish them hehe.

Second thing is that I won first place in the Japanese kite contest!! I won a round-trip Continental ticket to Tokyo, Japan!!!!! :D Too bad I just bought a ticket to Japan for July but now I can plan another Japan trip with this ticket! I was so happy when they announced the winners, my hard work was rewarded~

Haha, here's a picture of me with my kite--the little tail portion says "Continental Airlines" in Japanese. The yellow lettering is my name in Japanese. The design of the kite is Otafuku--a traditional Japanese face depicting beauty. You might recognize it as the logo of a popular natto brand.

Then a picture of my kite in the air... It flew pretty high! Many of the kites in the contest didn't even fly in the air.

Then later on Monday I gave my friend Heejin a little prom makeup help so she could learn some tips to do her own makeup for the prom which was yesterday, June 4th. She is the same girl who helped me with my Goth Loli entry for Eki's contest.

The look is sexy aubergine/black smoky eye look! I was worried it would look bad because it was my first time doing makeup for someone else. I gave her a little cat-eyed liner with MAC Fluidline in Blacktrack.

I finished off her lips with Urban Decay lip stain pen and curled her hair a bit so it looks very natural. The bangs were poofed up a bit like a coiff and pinned back.

I hope I did a good job teaching you... Hope your prom was fun Heejin!

Hi all! Yeah my excuse is the same as always--busy with school once again. I'm not sure if I will be updating often because the next few weeks are filled with finals and end of the school year is coming up next month. This Thursday I'll be attending my awards brunch for my essay! :)

I'm going to do a quick update on what's been going on lately... Thank you Blair, Zwala, NicNic, and Innerchild (I think that's all, sorry if I forgot you) for tagging me in various things! I promise I will get to them sometime soon hahaha. Also Miumiu, Fuz, and Zwala, I haven't forgotten your help for my blog layout! I'm trying to get to it but everything has been so busy these days for me... Thank you guys for your kindness--I'll have to get to my layout soon.

So, this weekend I've been extremely busy making a traditional Japanese kite (tako) for a Kite Contest my school is holding on June 1st (today.. as it is 1 AM as I am writing this hahah). It took me all day Saturday and today to make the thing, painting, attaching the bamboo structure and the bridle strings.. Ugh.. horrible! I think the outcome is good but it took so much time. I'll show you guys a pic of the kite once the contest is over. The grand prize is a free round-trip ticket to Tokyo, Japan! Wow :) I hope I will have some chance to win haha~

Anyhow, last week I received my brush holder that I ordered from the lovely and creative Yumeko! I ordered the Kuromi print brush holder which is so adorable~~ I love dark/cute stuff. I really love skull prints too, too bad I couldn't get one of the first brush holders she made with the Hello Kitty skull print!

Happy Sunday! I’ve been thinking for a couple of days about Naomi's Purple Look Contest and finally decided to go with a smoky nighttime look. I was inspired by a picture in the magazine Pinky that I made scans of in the last post, which was a sophisticated but sweet daytime look. I used some of the techniques to create a more dramatic nighttime look. To balance the dark and dramatic eyes, I made the lips a nudy pink lip color topped with some lipgloss.

This look took me 4 tries to get it right… Each time the color wouldn’t show up on the picture! -__-; I was seriously frustrated!! Sigh, then at last I asked my mom for advice since she took a modeling class when she was younger so she could pick the makeup for the models when she became a designer and could run fashion shows. I then added darker eyeshadow to create more color payoff. I hope it worked!

I could post a tutorial of this look someday, if anybody wants. I used a lot of MAC products in this look, which is really nice. I really liked the MAC lipstick and eyeshadows paired with the Dior eyeshadow, it was a nice combination.

Anyway, so lately I’ve been obsessed with liquid masks since my skin has been acting up. I think it’s from the combination of allergies, stress, not exercising enough, sleeping late, and eating too much Japanese sweets LOL. Many reasons!! I read about a DIY milk mask in last year’s September issue of CanCam (hehe, I collect magazines).

The steps to do this are very easy:

Step 1: Cleanse face with a face wash

Step 2: Split cotton pads into two thin pieces

Step 3: Pour a bit of milk into a bowl or cup

Step 4: Dip cotton pieces into milk, squeeze excess

Step 5: Arrange wet cotton onto face, gently stretching it to cover more skin area

Step 6: Leave on for 10-15 minutes, then pour excess milk down the drying cotton pad.

Step 7: Discard cotton pieces, wash face with face wash again, complete skin care routine.

It’s not necessary to wash the face with cleanser after the mask but milk tends to smell a bit raw so I like to wash my face again then follow with my normal skin routine. This was the first time I tried this DIY mask and I loved the results!

Milk is known to calm redness and irritation. It also hydrates the skin! After I completed my skin care routine, my face was SO soft and plump haha. I kept touching it the entire day (which is kind of bad because of the hand’s oils but oh well.) I recommend you to try this! It’s great and moisturizes better than anything!

Japanese Mag Scans + NOTW

Hello everyone~

Long time no write if that makes any sense. I've been swamped with work in school, my AP test was today (luckily I was dismissed after 12 pm). After the 4-hour long test I spent my afternoon eating out and hanging out in the local garden--David and Johnson's Garden, where weddings are held for the beautiful scenery. Some of my friends were doing yoga... strangely enough, but I was way to exhausted by walking up the hill to move hahaha. Then I had to return to school for a review for my physics test tomorrow.. sigh..

Oh and I recently found out that I was one of the winners in my state county's writing contest hosted by my county's community college. Apparently this is a big accomplishment... I wrote a scholarly essay on the novel, The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne. My thesis was based on Pearl's (the illegitimate child) irreverent defiance of Puritanism by the communal ostracism, relationship with nature and uncharacteristic behavior. Haha.. To think that I won! I'm attending the awards brunch on June 4th which ironically is the same day as the senior prom.

I've been suffering from severe allergies lately, the pollen has been getting to me especially in the garden and while walking outside. My nose is always itchy and it's dry since I rub it too much with tissues... I have to use Vaseline to moisturize. I think I sneeze more than thirty times a day!

Anyway so I've been tired and deprived of sleep lately so no pics of me haha. I had this gigantic pimple in the space in between my eyes. It was very... gross and I don't usually get these pimples LOL. Maybe it's the stress!!? T_T

My recent purchase is the L'egere White Multi BB Cream from lovely FUZKITTIE's suggestions and raves, once again. I bought the bb cream off ebay for $18.06 (5 bids and I won hahaha) however it's a 2-3x used product so that's why it is cheaper. I don't really care that it's used and I sanitized it again just in case when I received it. No problems so far! I couldn't even tell that it was used. The seller said she didn't like the ingredient Jojoba Oil in it so that's why she sold it.

Anyway, so this post is basically a makeup post for not posting for a million years... Some magazine pics to provide some eye candy for Japanese mag lovers and my current nail look of the week :)

The magazine is called PINKY and it's the March edition (so late I know). I received this from my aunt a while ago.. Probably in February? I decided to post up some pics of the hair article, the models' favorite shampoos, conditioners, treatments, and styling products. I think these articles will be helpful for different hairstyles, colors, and hair types. Enjoy!

For my NOTW, I used Barielle base coat, two coats of Zoya's Flora, one coat of Essie's True Love for some jelly finish, and a coat of Seche Vite to finish it off. I really like Seche Vite for it's fast drying power but it always shrinks the tips so I get some tip wear easily... Also I'm not using enough coats of nail polish to cover the white part of the nail. Oh well!
